The purpose of the Social Justice & Peace Commission is serving the needy in the communities of the St. John Vianney Parish. We believe in giving moral &/or financial support to projects & issues across our state, country, & world. We strive to work within the themes of Catholic Social Teaching. The Seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching are:

• Life & dignity of the human person
• Call to family, community, & participation
• Right & responsibilities
• Options for the poor & vulnerable
• The dignity of work & the rights of workers
• Solidarity
• Care for God's creations.

CURRENT NEEDS:

• Additional commission members, particularly from St. Mary, St. Joseph, & St. Charles
• New ideas on how we can make a difference & improve the lives of the less fortunate locally or globally.
• Educate parishioners on important social justice & peace topics.

Annual Projects: Red Cross Blood Drive, World Marriage Day, Earth Day, Earth Day Community Clean-Up, Vegetable Vouchers, World/National Clean-Up Day, Blessing of the Animals, Christmas Giving Tree, Christmas Dinner for those alone on the Holiday.
