The purpose of this ministry is significant. It involves proclaiming the Word of God during our Liturgical celebrations. Some of the key purposes and responsibilities of the ministry are:

• Proclaiming Scripture: Reading the Sacred Scripture passages from the Bible during Mass.
• Leading the Assembly: In the absence of a cantor, lectors recite the responsorial psalm & present the intentions for the general intercessions.
• Living out our Baptismal Call: Serving as a lector is a way to "live out" one's baptismal call to proclaim the Gospel & participate in the liturgical life of the Church.
